Coromandel two day marine chronometer. The 3 1/2 inch silvered dial signed Widenham 13 Lombard Street London, No 3010 with subsidiary seconds dial and state of wind indicator. Gold hands. The two day fusee movement with Pennington's form of 'dovetail' spring detent, cut bimetallic balance and blued steel helical balance spring. Brass gimbal and bowl.
The three tier coromandel box of lovely colour and patina with brass inset handles, ivory roundel to the front, period tipsy winding key numbered 2730.
Rating and repair certificate from Thomas Mercer dated 29-11-76 with a daily rate of +1.0 sec per day. Signed R Matthews.

Richard Widenham was a respected chronometer maker, a winner of the Greenwich chronometer Trials in 1825. He is listed working at 6 East Street, Red Lion Square, London and was known to be working from his Lombard Street address by 1835.
