A good mid 19th century mahogany longcase regulator with round silvered dial signed Cordeux Clifton, subsidiary seconds dial with Observatory markings, blued steel hands.

Substantial five pillar movement with shouldered plates, signed on the backplate Chas. Cordeux The Quadrant Clifton A.D 1853. Fine six spoke wheelwork and high count twelve leaf pinions, Harrison’s maintaining power, deadbeat escapement with interesting jewelled pallets. Beat setting adjustment to the crutch, pendulum suspension block spanning the plates and a mercury compensated pendulum.

The flame figured mahogany case of lovely colour and patina with canted corners to the break arch hood and trunk, glazed trunk door with hidden hinges, flame veneered backboard and figured base with a single plinth.
