Small English ebonised library mantel clock. Applied carving to the shaped top and bevelled glasses to sides. The square silvered dial is signed Barraud & Lund, Cornhill, London and numbered 1589 with engraved corner spandrels. The hands are blued steel. The high quality, substantial, eight day chain and fusee movement has an anchor escapement and is signed on the backplate Barraud & Lund Cornhill London 1589.

This firm was founded by the well known chronometer maker Paul Philip Barraud at Cornhill, London in about 1795. It became Barraud & Lund when John Richard Lund became a partner in 1838. The business was closed in 1929.
